2011-03-22 [Akayume]: The vday comps are owned by silverfire.
2011-03-22 [Alexi Ice]: I know, these have already been changed
2011-03-22 [Akayume]: Yeah, but it was owned by her before that? o.o That's why I was confused. XP
2011-03-22 [Mortified Penguin]: I'm thinking the wikis listed here are ones that didn't have an owner before but now do.
2011-03-22 [Akayume]: Weeeeell.... >.> Nevermind. I'm tired and overworked and am a crabbypants. Lemme alone. :P
2011-03-22 [Mortified Penguin]: Never!
2011-03-22 [Mortified Penguin]: Stay out of my curtains! I just had those steam cleaned!!
2011-03-22 [Akayume]: Professionally
2011-03-22 [Mortified Penguin]: Professionally other!
2011-03-22 [Alexi Ice]: LOL!
No clue, Aka. They might have been owned before but when I changed them they were currently unowned. (and if you don't straighten up I'll make YOU own all the pages! Muahahaha!!) Lol.
2011-03-22 [kians mummy]: isn't there any i can take over
2011-03-22 [Ravendust]: [kians mummy]- I'm pretty sure that official wikis are meant to be run by council members and the like.
2011-03-22 [kians mummy]: yeah they are grrrrrrrrrrr its not fair i want to become a council member *puts face in hands*
2011-03-22 [Ravendust]: Its something that takes a lot of work, heck, I've had my app up to become crew for about two years now. Join contests, help other members, familiarize yourself with the forums, these are ways to get yourself out there and have the council get to know/trust you with the duties a council member needs to perform.
2011-03-22 [Akayume]: And create an application. (: That's a good first step.
2011-03-22 [Akayume]: And I'll take the V-Day pages. :D
2011-03-22 [kians mummy]: how can they get to trust me when they don't even give us a chance to earn there trust
2011-03-22 [Ravendust]: she has an app up, tis why I didn't mention it *nods* but yeah, that's a good first step ;)
2011-03-22 [Akayume]: Well, you need time. As the phrase goes, Rome wasn't built in a day. (; Participate in competitions, show yourself to be an intelligent person, follow the rules, ect. ect.
We keep an eye out for council members, but it takes time to earn trust.
2011-03-22 [kians mummy]: but it will just be ignored
2011-03-22 [Akayume]: That's not true. If actions like that were ignored, no one would be on the council. :P
2011-03-22 [kians mummy]: its likeguides they need new people, i also think patrollers do as there is a patroller on there who has been off for nearly a year now and another for over 65 days
2011-03-22 [Akayume]: That's because the patrollers don't work exactly like the other "official" titles. It's a little different.
You are certainly welcome to ask [Flisky] or [Thunder Cid] or [wicked fae mage] if they need help, it is entirely up to them and personally I think they have it covered. (:
2011-03-22 [windowframe]: going through and re-assigning to council-member
2011-03-22 [Akayume]: Agreed. (: I took the V-Day comp pages because I want to get that rolling again next year. XP It is my baby project. :P
2011-03-22 [Akayume]: [windowframe], you are so slick. :O
2011-03-22 [windowframe]: as a note: some of these pages weren't actually official pages. We're not going to reclaim Sunrose's own wikis to other crew members, only official pages please. :)
Also, to crew members: if, whilst re-assigning the wikis you notice that they are set to be only editable by the owner, please change it and attach it to the crew forum.
2011-03-22 [Alexi Ice]: Sammie - The Guides operate differently as well. They only need one guide at a time. Right now it is Thunder Cid. To be a guide you need to know nearly EVERYTHING about Elftown so that you may be able to direct people to the proper places. Don't take offense if your not picked to be a guide right away because they need people who are very knowledgeable about Elftown. Also, most people are not picked for council for a LONG time after they submit an application to the crew. Especially since your crew app is in 'low' I would look to fixing it up at first instead of trying to become some kind of ET vigilante. Look at Council crew applications and see why theirs stood out and were picked.
Hope this helps
2011-03-22 [Akayume]: *guide (not guild) :P Lub you!
2011-03-22 [Alexi Ice]: Ugh! Fail ! Sorry >.< Fixed it! Thank ya!
2011-03-22 [Akayume]: De rien. :P I'm only here to serve.
2011-03-23 [windowframe]: Akane: we currently have three Guides, actually, and there is no limit on number.
2011-03-23 [Alexi Ice]: Lol, I knew that...>> hahaha.
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: Would we be able to get a badge for the official wikis we found?
As it seems unfair there is no reward to finding official wikis with no owners.
2011-03-23 [hanhepi]: a sense of accomplishment isn't reward enough?
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: true but, we have both put effort into it
2011-03-23 [Ravendust]: I don't need a badge or anything, being helpful is fine for me :3
2011-03-23 [Akayume]: You shouldn't do good deeds for the badges, but for the warm, fuzzy feeling inside. :D
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: i bet you if you didm't have badges you would not be saying that now lol
2011-03-23 [Akayume]: I did lots of things around here before I had badges. (:
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: badges seperate members......
basically into groups, therefore its like the pieces of s**ts are the ones with no badges and probably not going to get any as the staff are to power crazy on here
2011-03-23 [Akayume]: And what makes you think the council/anyone who has a badge are power crazy? I'm honestly curious.
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: because it takes some people over 2 years of being on here to become anything on here, it makes people feel like they are a nobody, that is one of the problems people are slowly but truly leaving elftown. because they feel like they are a nothing
2011-03-23 [Akayume]: But there's so much more to do here than collect badges. You can start a roleplay, make friends, create wikis and groups, enter contests, comment in forums...
I used to roleplay all the time. That was my main reason for staying here actually.
And although we'd love to accept anyone into the council, it just isn't possible. It's a huge responsibility
Besides, I think anything worth anything is something you have to work for. (:
2011-03-23 [Ravendust]: Now that's far from true! Sure the badges look pretty in your house, but they're not the main point behind Elftown! If you want any, you've got to work for them, show your creative prowess. Elftown is an artist's site, not one of those typical social sites where the more of something you have the better you are! I only have a few badges, and even when I didn't have any I didn't feel like a nobody. Hell, I didn't even know what badges were for the first few months and couldn't have cared less! None of my friends feel like nobodies either, we're here to be who we are, not strive to be the best at any particular thing or have the most badges.
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: what, work for at least a year, and also, some people do feel like a nobdy, thats why alot of people leave elftown.
they should create a new badge for people who have been on here for 1month, 2month etc: each time changing the badge on there house, thats the way alot of the sites i go on do the badges
2011-03-23 [Akayume]: Well, it's a little silly to reward people for logging in every once in a while. :P
You don't get to be in charge of facebook, but you don't leave that site because you're a nobody.
2011-03-23 [Ravendust]: Elftown is different, and so far I haven't spoken to anybody who feels like a nobody just because they don't have any badges. I've got a lot of friends through elftown and a lot of creative partners. I joined to enhance my art and writing through roleplaying, co-writing, having others read and critique my work, and so on.
The people that leave sites like elftown... Honestly I don't believe they leave because they feel like a nobody. Personally I've known people to leave because they can't stand the fact that some members are complete perverts and only here to socialize/cybe
I've never been on a site that offered badges before, and I don't believe they're meant to tantalize members into staying. Art isn't about the reward, but the knowledge that whilst having fun... You're improving yourself in the process. That's my opinion, anyway.
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: facebook is alot different. plus i am also a volunteer on there.
[Ravendust]: so wich site did you go on first, writersco or elftown
2011-03-23 [Ravendust]: Writersco was my first site, I joined up with elftown about 3 months or so after I joined over there.
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: so you did encounter the badges on there *confused*
2011-03-23 [Ravendust]: Nope, not a single badge for me over there, until I was chosen as a daily poet on here I didn't even know what they were honestly.
2011-03-23 [Akayume]: And writerso is a heddate site, so they are similar.
My point was that you don't go on a site to get pretty shinies, but to use the site. (;
2011-03-23 [Ravendust]: So... is Elftown Graphics Group an official wiki? If so it doesn't have an owner... :-/
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: i do use the site
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: yes it is, you need to put it up on here
2011-03-23 [Mortified Penguin]: You don't train your Pokemon and face the gym leaders for the badges, but rather for the friendship with your Pokemon and the experience you share. Badges don't help you beat the elite four, Gary. It isn't about leveling up, but about the bond between you and your Pokemon. That is why you fail.
2011-03-23 [Thunder Cid]: If I'm not mistaken Writersco is dead.
2011-03-23 [Akayume]: Nope! Wwwmwritersco.
And amen to that mort.
2011-03-23 [Thunder Cid]: Thanks Akay :D
2011-03-23 [Akayume]: Dot. Not m. Sorry. DX I'm on my blackberry.
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: the link doesn't work on my computor, unknown host
2011-03-23 [Flisky]: http://www.wri
Try that.
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]:
2011-03-23 [Flisky]: Click the link I just put up.
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: got it working, thanks
2011-03-23 [Chimes]: [Hedda] abandoned it, didn't he? I thought it moved and [Hedda] just left that version there 'cause he could.
Also [kians mummy], I'm curious, how do you volunteer for facebook? What do you do over there if you volunteer? :)
2011-03-23 [Akayume]: No, people wanted it back. So it doesn't have the old domain (if you type in www.writersco.
2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: its basically the same as the patrollers we report all the wrong doings in comments on walls and groups, bullying, adding people you don't know.
i volunteered through my fiances uncle ste, as he works for them and does the volunteer branch on there
2011-03-23 [Chimes]: Everyone can do that, I'm pretty sure. O.o 'Cause I do that and I'm not a volunteer. I thought it would be something... more. *Shrug* If you enjoy it, go for it. :)
2011-03-23 [windowframe]: Just saying: You don't have to be a patroller to do that stuff here. Everyone can do it. The badge just recognises people who've made lots of reports. :) (I *think* I remember reading once upon a time that it had to be 50 GOOD reports minimum for the patroller badge, if you want a goal to work for)
2011-03-23 [hanhepi]: i think of the badges here sorta like the badges you get in the girl scouts and stuff. they just let other people know what you've managed to learn or accomplish. they are there in your house so that strangers can see at a glance what you've been doing here (to some extent anyway.) i'd been here for quite a while before i managed to get my first badge. and i busted my ass doing stuff to earn that one.
2011-03-23 [Ravendust]: I didn't earn my first badge until I'd been here a year
2011-03-23 [Alexi Ice]: Sammie - I think my first badge wasn't until my third year of being on here. I was running a particularly popular wiki and when that kind of went out of style I decided that I had been a member long enough to know my way around and decided to earn some badges myself. I was more interested -still am, honestly - in RPGing and running my wiki pages than earning badges. And I didn't make it onto the council for about six months after I put in my application (and I worked HARD on that application too)
Also. I'm going to be a hypocrite here because everyone (especially Silver) knows that I am far from the best speller here but it would help if you would capitalize at least your 'I''s.
2011-03-23 [Alexi Ice]: Lol, I noticed that too. Hahaha. Fluke!
2011-03-24 [hanhepi]: nah, they all know i type like a retarded monkey. If I were to all of a sudden start capitalizing in all the right spots, everyone might have massive heart attacks. It was bad enough when I started using a spell checker.
